By simmering rose petals in water is the most simple and quickest method of preparing rose water. The result comes out is a fragrant rose colored water and it is best suitable for recipes and uses because it has a limited life.

Ingredients That You Will Need:

  • Distilled Water
  • Rose Petals Without
  • Sauce Pan With Lid Cover
  • Sieve or Funnel
  • Bottle

Directions:

  • Take fresh rose petals and wash them properly to remove dirt particle or any kind of residue.
  • Add rose petals into a saucepan and fill it with distilled water (just enough to cover the rose petals and not more than that otherwise you will get diluted rose water).
  • Cover the saucepan with lid and simmer on a low flame.
  • Allow the water to simmer until rose petals lost their color and become colorless or until the water takes all the characteristics of rose petals.
  • This process takes around five minutes.
  • Leave the lid and let the mixture cool completely.
  • Strain the water in a clean bottle to separate the rose petals using a sieve or funnel.
  • Store the rose water in the refrigerator for longer use. It will last longer in this way.

By Distilling Method:

This method is little bit difficult and time consuming as per from the previous simmering method. The rose water get from this method is clear and much more shelf stable.

Ingredients That You Will Need:

  • 5 cups rose petals
  • Distilled water (enough to cover the petals)
  • Ice cubes
  • A large pot with lid
  • A clean stone or a brick
  • A heat safe glass bowl

Directions:

  • Place the clean stone or brick in the middle of the pot and place the heat safe glass bowl upon it.
  • Now place the rose petals around the brick and take care no rose petals should fall into the glass bowl.
  • Pour distilled water into the pot to cover rising petals or until it comes almost to the top of the brick. Don’t put water into the glass bowl.
  • Invert the lid and place it on the pot. This will enable the steam to gather and trickle down to the focal point of the lid and eventually dribble into the bowl.
  • Add ice on the top of the lid, it encourages the steam to condense and subsequently drop into the glass bowl.
  • Include more ice when it melts. Continue doing this until the point when the procedure is finished.
  • Allow the water to boil and then let it simmer for on low heat at least 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Take the pot from the heat and let it cool completely.
  • Remove the lid from the pot carefully so that melted ice water does not fall into glass bowl.
